The true price of Little Nates Kombucha habit.

He will be DJing tonight at the Cha Cha while I am fast asleep.

Did you miss the grand opening of Family?

You really shouldn't have missed it. This is the window installation that Saelee Oh made.

There is enough awesome stuff at Family that you can easily max your credit card / spend the rent.

David Jacob Kramer.

Dean Spunt, Weirdo Ripper.

Really, I am not doing this night justice. It was crazy packed and friendly. No Age and Lavender Diamond both played and were both ruling.

Impossible to see though. You just had to listen.Listen and be stoked that something so awesome is getting such a response. Congratulations Family!

No Age cover shoot yesterday. They set up at 2pm in front of The Smell. It's for the cover of their debut on Fat Cat , 'Weirdo Rippers'.

Jeremy and Claire Weiss, AKA Day 19 shot it.

Little Nate was bummed he couldn't be there, but he got repped anyway.

Randy Randall on direction.

The early birds at the neigboring tranny bar stood outside and watched. I couldn't tell if they were bummed or not. Stone faced, hands on hips.

Will the day ever come when I don't think that a show on the sidewalk in downtown isn't ten million times more awesome then a 'real' show?

Nope.

Something really, really special is in the air in Los Angeles. This is not really a place that has fostered much in the way of community in the last 10 or 20 years. It's been unfocused and up against a tremendous amount of negative shit. Lately that all seems to be changing. The heartbeat that is the Smell has definitely played a huge hand in being a constant home for experimentation.
There are others too, of course, and I have been having very strong feelings that for once, in a small pocket, Los Angeles is host to a positive, fearless creative community. A very important one at that.

David Scott Stone with punker feet.

Weirdo Rippers!

As soon as No Age finished, the tranny bar employess/owners brought a pyramid of Jello shots out for the kids. I guess they liked it so much they decided to say "Who gives a fuck about liquor laws?".

Clavin.

Wendy Yao had on a super classy Wipers 'Is This Real' shirt. She picked up copies of the Sads 12" for Oooga Booga. Awesome!

And with all that said, I would like to leave you with Elijahs new hairdo. WOW!

Lots to remember to do today. The Smell at 2pm for a major suprise. Family tonight. OK then.

My weekly pill pile grows and grows.

And if you live in Los Angeles how about that wind last night!

Living room nighttime stuffing jammer.

Thank you to the eager stuffing hands of Anton, Betsy, Amy and Aaron.

All orders were shipped today. Please write me after you get them and say "Hi!". I am so psyched. This Sads record has been in the percolater for a while!

We finished just in time as I had to run to LAX to pick up Diamond David Scheid fresh off the Sonic Youth tour. He brought me a bag of bagels and cream cheese from NYC! Fresh! I'm glad that the one person who will see Ghostrider with me is back for matinee madness!

The mailman made my day.

I will fill all orders tomorrow. Sorry for any delay, but it was worth the wait! I am so so psyched!

Yesterday was part two of our anniversary celebrations. We woke up and very slowly made our way over to LACMA. Once there we became official members of the museum. Now we can hang around there all the time. We can even go there and see Cocteau and Hitchcock movies. We can do anything we want! We are members!

After cruising through the Magritte show we posted up on this wall to harrass any non-members we saw breaking any rules. We were a little bit drunk with power, I admit.

It was a clear and cool and awesome and beautiful day.

And I wish I had some photographic evidence of what happened after we left, which was Thai massage at the Pho Siam Spa. I never get massages because I don't like to be touched by strange hands, but we went for it anyway. Now, by the end of it I was feeling great, but when I realized that the lady was standing on my back and rubbing my neck with her feet, it took everything I had not to laugh!

We are in the eye of the anniversary hurricane over here people.

Wyatt Hyman Sardy, and about 30 other babies came over to Bryan and Dana's to celebrate Ford's 1st birthday, and to watch him get his Jewish name.

Wayne and Ingo talking prison stories with Rene.

I don't know this little tigers name.

Here is the man of the hour. One year old! Happy birthday Ford!

That's Fords Papa, reading stories to Ford about his great grandfather. There were about 200 people in the room, half of them crying, the other half singing in Yiddish! Awesome! I have always thought that Jews have more fun. All white people do is eat and watch TV. When the ceremony was all over, he had his new official Jewish name. LEVON.

Little Nate was just like, "WOW!".

Dave and Wyatt, Father and Son. Rene, Ingrid, Nate and I seemed to be the only baby free people attending.

Goodnight pal.

On the way home I saw a van eat a saturn.

It's like summertime down on Fairfax lately. I guess I should be pumped by the weather but I am so tired all the time from my juice that I just want it to snow so I can sit inside and stoke the fire and watch old movies and make felt monsters with Betsy..But no, it's 75 and there is never enough time to finish everything that needs doing.

I want to make a zine this weekend. Email me pics and drawings in jpegs to be included. Cheap, fast, fun.

Happy Valentimes!

Betsy and I are headed out into the wild blue yonder of romance tonight! Peruvian food! Moonlight! Tuxedos! Sweet nothings! Ball gowns! Diamonds! Champagne hot tub! LOVE IS IN THE AIR!

One of these guys is high maintenance. You guess which one.
Last night lil' Andrew Clark turned 34. Happy birthday buddy.

The most important thing about today is that it's my Mother's birthday! Happy Birthday Mom!

Jamz Joliff came over and told me about his love and his life and showed me his teardrop tattoos. We went to the burrito stand and there was Aska. It just so happened that she was there to meet Dan and Aaron for..Sads paractice!

The Sads and Jimmy and it's all in Atwater? Yes. Yes it is.

On I side note, I keep thinking that Belle And Sebastian will be hailed in 10 years the way the Smiths are now. I don't know, I may be wrong. It wouldn't be the first time. But anyway, yeah, I love Belle and Sebastian.

Back to the Sads.

It was such a radical lunch suprise. The very first Sads rehearsal as a band!

Tyrant.

They have six weeks to develop into a well oiled killing machine and then...First show ever at the end of March.

Circumstance had both of us home before five yesterday. What do you do with two extra hours on your hands? Winter hike! Duh!

Lookit those getaway sticks!

Climbing the stairs nearly killed me. I'm out of shape!

It was great to get outside! I have been shacked up and guarding against the Los Angeles winter for three months!

Sweet green greenery.

Yes sir. It was the best Thursday we've had in just a little while.

When we got home we admired the freshly re-potted plants. It's a jungle in our living room!
“A place belongs forever to whoever claims it hardest, remembers it most obsessively, wrenches it from itself, shapes it, renders it, loves it so radically that he remakes it in his own image.” -Joan Didion

Sunday living room jammer at our house.

The Sads record is sooo done and ready to be mailed out to the people of Earth. Last minute addition is to make a full Crass style newsprint collage! For your wall! To be framed!

Also, yesterday was fake spring. Suddenly 80 degrees and clear and beauteous.

Anton is going to be directing the 'Sads Dancers'. Sads dancers? Yes, Sads dancers.

Dancing Sad is not actually all that easy.

The big big TV broke and Betsy turned it into a plant stand.

Scissors and glue sticks..

Almost there.

" Whenever possible, always GO BUCK."

Susan Cianciolo

Jesse Spears.

Amanda Vietta. This one is going to reappear as the No Age 12" cover!

Dan Monick.

Dudes-a-plenty. The gallery and the sidewalk were packed!

Cundo and Christina have an incredible baby on their hands.

And in six months Anton and Apple will be having a baby as well! Amazing!

Everyone was talking about the awesomeness of Mark McCoys drawings. Seriously.

Gay Dean.

Elijah Forrest. Is he even 20 yet?

A beautiful couple.

Another beautiful couple.

I left Scheid alone for five minutes and he started smoking joints!

Jamal. It was an all around excellent night. Positive and friendly the way it should be, and the way it seemd to be getting more and more in this community.

And then I saw this perfect guy and took that as a sign to go home. In bed at 10 pm , Betsy and I watched 'Do The Right Thing' and tried to do the dances that Rosie Perez rocks in the credits.

Mr. Randy Randall Jr.
The scene at Tacos Villa Corona is getting ridiculous. I won the burrito raffle AGAIN. I am officially the 'King Of The Burrito Raffle'. After losing for many years, I have won 4 times in less than one. This will be what I am remembered for. My great grand children will talk about it. " He didn't experience much success, but he could win a burrito in his sleep".
If you're in LA you would be very silly not to come to the show at Tiny Creatures tonight. 6-10 PM. 628 N. Alvarado.

This is the pile of goo and garbage I made in the middle of the night while my girlfriend slept.

No Age curated an art show for Saturday night! At Tiny Creatures right here in Echo Park! Mark McCoy! Matthew Thurber! Susan Cianciolo! Davendra Banhart! Jennifer Clavin! Rich Jacobs! Lil' Nate Harrington! Ashley Macomber! Ron Rege'! Roach! Amanda Vietta! Me! More!
