No Age cover shoot yesterday. They set up at 2pm in front of The Smell. It's for the cover of their debut on Fat Cat , 'Weirdo Rippers'.

Jeremy and Claire Weiss, AKA Day 19 shot it.

Little Nate was bummed he couldn't be there, but he got repped anyway.

Randy Randall on direction.

The early birds at the neigboring tranny bar stood outside and watched. I couldn't tell if they were bummed or not. Stone faced, hands on hips.

Will the day ever come when I don't think that a show on the sidewalk in downtown isn't ten million times more awesome then a 'real' show?

Nope.

Something really, really special is in the air in Los Angeles. This is not really a place that has fostered much in the way of community in the last 10 or 20 years. It's been unfocused and up against a tremendous amount of negative shit. Lately that all seems to be changing. The heartbeat that is the Smell has definitely played a huge hand in being a constant home for experimentation.
There are others too, of course, and I have been having very strong feelings that for once, in a small pocket, Los Angeles is host to a positive, fearless creative community. A very important one at that.

David Scott Stone with punker feet.

Weirdo Rippers!

As soon as No Age finished, the tranny bar employess/owners brought a pyramid of Jello shots out for the kids. I guess they liked it so much they decided to say "Who gives a fuck about liquor laws?".

Clavin.

Wendy Yao had on a super classy Wipers 'Is This Real' shirt. She picked up copies of the Sads 12" for Oooga Booga. Awesome!

And with all that said, I would like to leave you with Elijahs new hairdo. WOW!
